Peru offers a variety of activities for our visitors. It is a destination with diverse attractions such as adventure sports, culture, nature, and, of course, gastronomy. The PERU TRAVEL MART is held at the Historic Center of Lima. For this reason, we want to share some recommendations that participants should consider to make the most of their stay in our country.
Weather:
In October, and considering that we are experiencing the La Niña phenomenon, this can be a month where we may have cold and cloudy mornings, sunny afternoons, and temperatures between 19°C and 21°C. Nights can be somewhat colder and windy. Therefore, it is advisable to bring varied clothing.
Gastronomy in Peru:
Peru is a country globally recognized for its rich gastronomy. However, among the most recommended dishes are:
Typical dishes:
- Ceviche
- Lomo Saltado
- Papa a la Huancaína
- Cuy (guinea pig)
- Ají de Gallina
- Causa Limeña
- Anticuchos
Desserts:
- Suspiro a la Limeña
- Picarones
- Mazamorra Morada
- Arroz con Leche
Typical drinks:

Electricity:
The voltage in Peru is 220 volts. If you plan to connect any electronic device designed for 110 volts, it may get damaged. However, it is important to check the manuals of the devices and batteries. If they say something something like "INPUT 110 V / 220 V," it means they can adapt to both voltages.
Exchange rate:
In Peru, the national currency is the Sol. It is recommended to convert your currency to soles to purchase various items offered in the country. At the time of this information, the dollar has a value of 3.75 soles. It is always advisable to carry some cash, as not all stores or establishments accept cards. It’s preferable to have smaller bills and coins, as they are necessary and can save you from any situation.
